Thought you missed your chance to visit the Iris Garden until next year? Following a special Ferragosto opening, there will be additional chances to tour the garden on Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23. Every year, this serene spot opens for just a short spring spell, usually closing by the end of May. Hidden under piazzale Michelangelo, it isn’t exactly on most residents’ everyday routes, so that rare open-to-the-public period can slip away all too quickly. Don’t let this special weekend opening escape you! Access the garden from the eastern end of piazzale Michelangelo; hours are 10am–12.30pm and 4pm–7pm both days. Entry is free, though donations to the volunteer-run organization are encouraged. Call 055/483112 or visit www.irisfirenze.it for further information.
