One of the best parts of living in Florence is that there’s always something to look forward to. Missed that major exhibition? Forgot to buy your ticket for that top wine event? The good news is that something just as worthy is right around the corner—guaranteed.

Foodies, mark your calendars: the autumn edition of the STREEAT Food Truck Festival takes over the Cascine on October 2–4. Another ‘scoop’ you won’t want to miss: during the same week, well ahead of the winter cold, Florence’s Gelato Festival will pack piazzale Michelangelo to the brim.

Everyone’s buzzing about the exciting reopening of the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, slated for October 29, the same day the Baptistery will finally return to full view. On the more contemporary end, the Florence Biennale will run from October 17 to 25, bringing renowned artists to the Renaissance city. And for an art form that’s more than skin-deep, stop in at the Florence Tattoo Convention (October 9–11, Fortezza da Basso).

Palazzo Pitti will host a must-see exhibition for anyone who appreciates a good party. Gran Ballo a Palazzo Pitti (opening November 28) will re-evoke the royal ball held there in 1865. Admit it: as you visit, you’ll imagine yourself cavorting among the crème de la crème of ages past.More of a movie buff than a museumgoer? The annual 50 Days of International Cinema series will kick off on October 29, bringing the best of global film to Florence. Music junkie? Don’t miss Of Monsters and Men at the Obihall (November 10).

As you embrace the local scene this season, keep your eyes peeled for Pope Francis, who will be in town from November 9 to 13 for the Italian Episcopal Conference, and will celebrate mass at the Artemio Franchi stadium (November 10, 3.30pm).
