CRAFTY/Arts & Crafts October 22–25Cattedrale, via Sandro Pertini, Pistoia

Pistoia is the place to be this week as a major artisan showcase takes over one of the town’s coolest industrial venues: the Cattedrale, a spot where trains and the first Italian radars were once built, now a gigantic and gorgeous ‘covered piazza’. One part showroom, one part marketplace and one hundred percent focused on the future of high-quality design, Arts & Crafts will feature over 80 companies and individuals from varied sectors: furniture, fashion, interior design, jewelry, applied arts and more. Entry is free. See program details on the website.

metrica

SERRA/Métrica October 22 & 23 Via Salvestrina 1, Florence

Enjoy an exciting look at contemporary Latin American art in one of Florence’s ultra-unique spaces. Housed in a converted greenhouse attached to a fifteenth century palazzo, La Serra MK Textile Atelier is the funky venue for Métrica, an exhibition featuring two young emerging artists: painter Gonzalo Ruelas and photographer Andrés Escalante. Both artists are based in Florence: Ruelas experiments with plastic arts in addition to painting, and Escalante’s style of photography exalts the everyday, often capturing spontaneous moments. The opening will take place from 6.30–9pm on Thursday and the exhibition will stay open Friday from 10am–6pm. For further details, see the Facebook event or contact margherita.mktextileatelier@gmail.com.
