At 3pm on every Saturday in November, the Duomo of Siena will offer free guided tours (in Italian) in Siena, geared to families with children aged 5 to 12.  The program invites young children to become familiar not only with the cathedral but art and museums. The tour schedule is as follows. 

 

November 7: A Day at the Museum. This guided tour of the cathedral’s museum explores questions such as what is a museum? How do you recognise the characters in the art? What does it mean to preserve and to restore artwork and artifacts?

November 14: Madonnas in Heaven and Earth. This tour introduces the Virgin Mary’s historical significance in Siena’s history. 

 

November 21: The Cathedral and the Animals. The tour invites participants to explore the details hidden within the cathedral’s masterpieces.

 

November 28: Walking around the Cathedral. This tour focuses on the history of the cathedral.
