At 3pm on every Saturday in November, the Duomo of Siena will offer free guided tours (in Italian) in Siena, geared to families with children aged 5 to 12.  The program invites young children to become familiar not only with the cathedral but art and museums. The tour schedule is as follows.

November 7: A Day at the Museum. This guided tour of the cathedral’s museum explores questions such as what is a museum? How do you recognise the characters in the art? What does it mean to preserve and to restore artwork and artifacts?

November 14: Madonnas in Heaven and Earth. This tour introduces the Virgin Mary’s historical significance in Siena’s history.

November 21: The Cathedral and the Animals. The tour invites participants to explore the details hidden within the cathedral’s masterpieces.

November 28: Walking around the Cathedral. This tour focuses on the history of the cathedral.

The tours, which are approximately 90 minutes, are open to a maximum of 30 participants. For information and reservations contact 057/7286300 or opasiena@operalaboratori.com.
