A month of music and tasty delights lies ahead in Barberino Val d’Elsa. The parish church of Sant’Appiano will host Sacralità e Gusto, a new series of concerts combined with tasting dinners held at 8pm each Wednesday in June.
The series begins on June 1 with a performance by Florence-based Irish singer-songwriter and cellist Naomi Berrill. Berrill’s distinct sound combines “the pacifist ethos of Pete Seeger, the romanticism of Schumann and Debussy and the syncopated pride of Nina Simone” (Maurizio di Fazio, Il Fatto Quotidiano).
Successive concerts will feature Prato’s Euphonios youth choir (June 8); pianist and composer Alessandro Galati (June 15); piano accordion duo Alex Modolo and Mauro Scaggiante (June 22); and soprano Francesca Becucci, tenor Maurizio Marchini and pianist Marco Francioli performing arias and duets from famous operas (June 29).
Each concert and dinner costs 25 euro, and reservations are recommended: call 335/1329330 or email infosacralitaegusto@gmail.com. For more information about the participating artists, visit the website.
