Tue 15 Nov 2016 11:03 AM

If you’re in Florence for Thanksgiving this November 24, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on your turkey fix. The Tuscan capital is a cosmopolitan city with an active international community, a vibrant food scene and the finest local ingredients in the world, so it might actually turn out to be the best Thanksgiving ever.

Here are our suggestions on where to eat, drink and be merry in Florence.

The Diner

Florence’s first diner, established in 2004, The Diner (via dell’Acqua 2, near the Bargello) serves up a feast for the founding fathers and Florentines alike this Thanksgiving. Popular among friends and international families, dig into roast turkey with stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cornbread and buttermilk biscuits, followed by apple pie and pumpkin pie. Wine and water included.

30 euro per person. Call 055 290748 to reserve your table.

Fashion Foodballer

Kick off your Turkey Day at the very central Fashion Foodballer (piazza Strozzi 14R, Florence) just two minutes from piazza della Repubblica. A fun hangout for families, the evening’s menu covers all the corners: stuffed turkey, potato and sweet potato mash, mac and cheese, and cornbread, with apple pie to finish. Food, football and friendship: the perfect way to give thanks.

25 euro per person, drinks not included (but all cocktails cost 5 euro instead of the usual 8.). Reservations required before November 20: call 055 0454529 or email

Ristorante Accademia

Now in its sixteenth year of feeding the international community for Thanksgiving, Ristorante Accademia (piazza San Marco, 7R) continues its longstanding tradition with an evening meal of pumpkin soup with cornbread, turkey with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and creamed corn, with apple strudel, pumpkin or apple pie as dessert. Reserve early.

35 euro per person. Drinks not included. Call 055 217343 or email

Ristorante Quinoa

Thanksgiving Dinner is strictly gluten-free at Ristorante Quinoa (vicolo di Santa Maria Maggiore, near the Duomo and Santa Maria Novella station). Start the all-American meal with butternut squash soup with crusty bread, followed by roast turkey with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and veggies, with pumpkin pie and gelato to finish.

25 euro per person, glass of wine and water included. Call 055 290876 to book.
