Hoping to assist in the country’s low birthrate problems, a consortium of tourism operators in Assisi have come up with a solution: the Assisi Fertility Room campaign. The slogan? “Come to Assisi. Together”.
Couples who book a room in one of the participating hotels (which run the gamut in terms of the type of lodging offered) from now until March 31, 2017 and who conceive a child while staying in Assisi will be reimbursed the cost of the hotel room – when, nine months later, they provide living proof of the deed. Given the average cost of a mid-week low-season double room, the lucky couple stands to win €99.
Representatives of the campaign declare, “This idea ‘is born’ with the full knowledge that deciding to have a child is a gesture of profound love that should be encouraged, despite the 1000 problems that life has in store.” Hence the idea to bring attention to the theme of procreation, as well as to an area that has been suffering a lack of tourism since the recent earthquakes. Participating lodgings are: Agriturismo Basaletto, Agriturismo Casa Faustina, Agriturismo Le Mandrie di San Paolo, Hotel Cristallo, Dal Moro Assisi Gallery Hotel, Hotel Dei Priori, Hotel Fontebella, Hotel Il Castello, Hotel Windsor Savoia, Villamena.
