Dalai Lama to visit Florence

On September 19, 2017, His Holiness The Dalai Lama will return to the Tuscan capital

On September 19, 2017, His Holiness The Dalai Lama will open the Festival delle Religioni at the Nelson Mandela Forum 18 years after his last visit to Florence in 1999.

 

The Festival delle Religioni will begin at 9am with the round table titled “Freedom in rules” will involve The Dalai Lama, the founder of the Ecumenical Monastic Community of Bose Father Enzo Bianchi, and the imam of Florence and president of the Union of Islamic Communities of Italy Izzedin Elzir. The afternoon session will include a public talk with The Dalai Lama, called “Peace through education”, organized by the Buddhist Institute Lama Tzong Khapa of Pomaia.

 

At a recent press presentation, Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella commented, “For us the arrival in Florence of His Holiness The Dalai Lama is a great source of pride as it reinforces the relationship between His Holiness The Dalai Lama, his mission in the world and the values in which Tuscany and Florence have always believed and towards which they have always worked.”
