From Van Gogh in Vicenza to Caravaggio in Milan, Picasso in Genoa and Monet in Rome, autumn in Italy will be packed with major exhibitions.
The season will begin on September 9 with a show titled “Advertising! The Birth of Modern Communication, 1890-1957” at Fondazione Magnani Rocca, near Parma, and with an exhibition on the legendary gems of the Thani Collection, exhibited for the first time in Italy in Venice’s Palazzo Ducale until January 3.
On September 16, “Marino Marini. Visual Passions” opens at Pistoia’s Palazzo Fabroni, showing 100 works until January 7. Next up will be “Pablo Picasso. Between Cubism and Neoclassicism: 1915-25”, from September 22 until January 21, at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome. Starting September 23 until January 21, Rovigo will welcome “Secession. Munich, Vienna, Prague, Rome. The Wave of Modernity” to Palazzo Roverella with paintings by Schiele, Klimt and Klinger among others.
Possibly the most eagerly awaited exhibition of the autumn is “Inside Caravaggio” in Milan’s Palazzo Reale from September 29 until January 28, offering a new look at the artist’s work. October will include “Van Gogh, Between the Wheat and the Sky” from October 7 to April 8 in Vicenza at Basilica Palladiana. Concluding the autumn season will be “Picasso: Masterpieces from the Picasso Museum in Paris” show from November 10 until May 6 in Genoa.
