The 2017 edition of Lucca Comics & Games, now in its 51st year, is dedicated to heroes, be it paper, pixel or flesh and blood. The foremost event celebrating the world of comics and fantasy will take place from November 1 to 5 throughout the historic center of Lucca, and will feature myriad exhibitions, panel discussions, screenings and performances to whet the appetite of any fan.

Over 600 guests are expected to make an appearance, including Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead, Roberto Fraga, Spanish-French game designer and winner of the “Game of the Year 2007” award, Mirka Andolfo, illustrator for DC and Marvel, Paolo Barbieri, artist of the Lord of the Rings calendar, and Jason Engle, artist for Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering. The exhibitions staged especially for the event are also sure to be a delight.

Taiyo Matsumoto: Love is all You Need, Raphael Lacoste: Mondi and the kid-friendly Arianna Papini: L’Importanza di dire le cose are just three of the nine shows making the rounds this year.

For lovers of Cosplay, there will be a number of events dedicated especially to the hobby, including contests and pre-selections for European Cosplay 2018 in Paris. But if there were ever a way to highlight the evolution of this event over its 51 years, the Netflix area is absolutely it. The streaming giant will make an appearance at Lucca Comics & Games for the first time, with a “wonderfully terrifying” underground area dedicated entirely to Stranger Things, the quirky Netflix show capturing the hearts of millions, and a hub where guests can screen one of the many shows and movies on offer.
