More than 150 Chianti DOCG wineries welcomed 4,000 wine lovers to Florence’s Fortezza da Basso for Chianti Lovers on February 10.

This year’s event saw a rise in the number of participating producers, up from 100 for the 2018 edition. The Rufina, Colli Fiorentini, Colli Senesi, Colli Aretini, Montalbano, Colline Pisane and Montespertoli of the Chianti DOCG subzones were in attendance in addition to 25 Morellino di Scansano wineries from the Maremma in southern Tuscany.

President of the Consorzio Vino Chianti Giovanni Busi commented, “We have started 2019 really well with a party for producers, trade professionals and lovers of this superb product. We were the first consortium in Tuscany to open this event to the wider public and the decision has proven to be a winning one. Now Chianti Lovers is an important occasion to promote our denomination with a good response from the national market and which reinforces the attention paid to Chianti DOCG by international wine pros.”
