Summer 2020 is all about simple pleasures. While we still can’t hug our friends, we can head for the Florentine hills and embrace outdoor film nights, a glass of iconic wine and line our bellies with home-cooked food. That’s the plan this summer at Ruffino’s Poggio Casciano wine estate, just 20 minutes from Florence.
The MerendaCinema film and picnic nights are just the tonic for these dog days, as the summer heat steals over the valley’s healthy vineyards, Nature’s seal of approval on our lockdown days, and we raise a distanced glass of estate wine.
Every Tuesday night until September 29, film buffs and foodies can enjoy the best of both worlds with an intelligent line-up that entices you back time and time again. The evenings begin with a winery tour, followed by a picnic of savoury and sweet treats made by the estate’s on-site Le Tre Rane restaurant. The films are screened in Italian at 9pm – there’s even popcorn provided by the chef!
Booking is mandatory (hospitality@ruffino.it or call 0556499712 / 3783050219 due to limited seating and tickets cost 25 euro per person.
