Must I wear a mask if Im walking in a town/village?

Yes, the mask must be worn whenever you’re in the vicinity of people you don’t live with. The new legislation states that face protection must be worn in “all outdoor places as soon as you are in the proximity of people you don’t live with”.

 

 

Must I wear a mask if Im walking in an isolated area?

No, but you must be ready to put it on if you come across people you don’t live with.

 

 

Must I wear a mask if I stop along the street or in a piazza?

Yes, the new legislative states the “obligation to wear a mask in all outdoor places, with the exception of instances in which, due to the characteristics of the place or the actual circumstances, the condition of isolation from people with whom you don’t live is guaranteed in a continuous way”.

 

 

Must I wear a mask when I use public transport?

Yes, you must wear a mask while waiting for the transportation and on board at all times.

No, if you’re in the car alone or with people you live with or someone with whom you are in a stable relationship. Yes, if you’re in the car with people you don’t live with. The same applies to mopeds and motorbikes.

Must I wear a mask while walking, jogging or other forms of exercise?

No, you don’t have to wear a mask while walking, jogging or exercising as long as you keep a physical distance of 2 metres from other persons.

Yes, you must always wear a mask indoors, when you’re not at home, unless you’re the only person constantly in that room.

 

 

When must I wear a mask at home?

Wearing a mask at home in the presence of people you don’t live with is not mandatory, although, on October 7, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte urged, “We must be careful when welcoming friends and relatives to our homes and keep our distance. These are the situations in which infection spreads the most.”

 

 

Must I wear a mask when I go into a shop?

Yes, it’s mandatory.

 

 

Must I wear a mask when I’m at a restaurant or coffee shop?

Masks must be worn at the restaurant whenever you’re not seated at the table. Masks must be worn at the coffee shop before and after eating food and drinks, and physical distance of one metre must be maintained.  

 

 

Must children wear masks?

Masks are mandatory for children over six years.

 

 

Must persons with disabilities wear masks?

All persons with illnesses or disabilities that are incompatible with nose and mouth coverings are exempt from wearing masks.
