The 48-day closure will enable Toscana Aeroporti, the company that manages both Florence and Pisa airports, to resurface the runway and safety strip, including the luminous devices and horizontal markings. The decision was made to go ahead with the work at a time when air traffic is at minimum levels due to the pandemic.
