Ottaviano has been a public school superintendent in New Jersey and a head of private international schools in Serbia, Italy, Japan, Romania and the UAE, as well as President of the International Baccalaureate for North Asia. With his educational background and passion for Psychology, for which he holds a professional doctorate (Ed.D.), Ottaviano believes that relationships between teachers and students are paramount. He has written and published articles on the adjustment of children, psychology and on the education of students. Most recently, Ottaviano has served as director for the Accrediting Commission for Schools, where he fostered excellence in elementary, secondary, adult and postsecondary institutions. The new Head of School at ISF brings an analytical perspective in his quest to help schools improve. He will be instrumental in ISF’s CIS and IB re-accreditation, priorities for the year ahead, and also in driving opportunities for school expansion, so that more students can benefit from a unique international education in Florence.
