In the occasion of the international day against violence against women The Teatro delle Donne presents “The woman torn to pieces” from the story by Assia Djebar in the collection In the heart of the Algerian night text and direction Filippo Renda. From 25 to 28 November at the Teatro Studio in Scandicci at 9.00 pm. The narration takes its cue from the homonymous story of the Thousand and One Nights in which the story is told of a young woman without a name who will be killed by her husband drunk with jealousy triggered by a misunderstanding. But the object of the narrative becomes in turn the narrator, in an articulated and compelling unfolding of story within story, up to Algeria in 1994. An Algeria devastated by the civil war. Here the young teacher Atika will be killed for teaching in French, the language of colonialism, “obscene stories”, or the Thousand and One Nights
