Approximately 5,000 people gathered in piazza della Signoria at 5pm on Sunday, February 27 to call for peace in Ukraine.

Florentines stood in solidarity with Ukrainians, Russians, Americans and several other nationalities as Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, spoke from outside Palazzo Vecchio. He was joined by the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, who was in Florence for the Mediterranean Forum, president of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, the Archbishop of Florence, Giuseppe Betori, and Rabbi of Florence’s Jewish Community, Gadi Piperno.

The peaceful rally followed a similar protest held on Ponte Santa Trinita on Saturday, February 26.
