We are looking for a Deputy Editor to join The Florentine starting in December 2022 to cover a period of parental leave.

For this varied and hands-on role, you need to be a team player with a passion for contemporary publishing and content production. Bringing continuity, creativity and enthusiasm to Florence’s English magazine, this exciting role includes compiling our monthly events listing and representing the magazine around Florence (press conferences, events, etc.).

Experience/skills required

  • Native English speaker with excellent understanding of Italian
  • Italian to English translation experience
  • Journalism or writing experience
  • Excellent copy-editing and proof-reading skills
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to supervise interns and external contributors
  • Social media management experience
  • Editor-level knowledge of WordPress
  • Deputizing for the editor where necessary
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Ability to manage clients in a professional manner
  • Video journalism skills (being confident on-screen) a plus

Junior editor

In addition to this role, we are looking for a junior editor to expand our staff. P.IVA preferable.

  • Social media experience, preferably new platforms
  • Editor-level knowledge of WordPress
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
