The Florence Academy of Art recently hosted 60 international guests and board members at the home of Hershey Felder in Bagno a Ripoli for a pre-gala dinner cooked by Ruffino’s Stefano Frassineti, the chef of the winery’s Le Tre Rane restaurant. A concert was offered by Florence resident Hershey Felder, Venetian Giada Valenti, Maggio Musicale artists, Joseph Dahdah, Davide Piva, Xenia Tziouvaras, and Americans Joe Alterman and Stephanie Friedman.

The following evening, a gala was held at Fondazione Zeffirelli in piazza San Firenze where 12 new paintings and sculptures by the Florence Academy of Art’s leading artists were offered for sale, and a concert was presented pairing each of the works with a work of music performed by more than 50 Florentine musical artists, including the Cantabile choir from The International School of Florence, musicians from the Maggio Musicale orchestra and opera, pianist Clive Britton, jazz great Joe Alterman, Stephanie Friedman, Giada Valenti, and more. Aquaflor artisanal perfumery and Per Non Dormire catering provided scents and food respectively, with Ruffino once again generously offering a variety of wines and The Florentine published a limited-edition of the English magazine’s November issue.

The evening was attended by a capacity gathering of 250 guests from the Florence community and several works by FAA artists were sold to the highest bidders in a silent auction that raised significant funds for the school’s scholarship program.

Several works still available for sale are available here.
