Much more than an open-air museum, Florence is a living creature that requires love, care and attention. This is the starting point for the Enjoy Respect Firenze campaign by the Municipality of Florence, carried out by Fondazione Destination Florence and The Florentine‘s sister communications company Flod, which claims that “Florence is Alive. Treat it with Care“.

The campaign aims to raise awareness and inform visitors about behaviour to adopt for a more respectful, aware and sustainable approach towards Florence as a whole, not only towards the priceless artistic and cultural heritage, but also towards the environment and the locals who live and work here.

The campaign is part of a project by Great Italian Destinations for Sustainable Tourism, which was implemented by Venice and Florence back in 2017. The intention is to ignite in visitors a civic responsibility as well as a feeling of belonging to a place that, as decreed by UNESCO, is the heritage of all humanity. By following a few simple tips, tourists will be able to organize their visit in a more conscious and sustainable way, discovering that their travel experience in Florence will also improve considerably.

The campaign, which was presented today, will soon appear all over Florence and features illustrious ambassadors like Dante Alighieri, Leonardo da Vinci and Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici, who offer local advice on the best ways to visit their city.
