You can never have enough hotels in a honeypot like Florence, which is why the following hotels are opening/have opened their doors.
Ruby Bea
Having converted an entire palazzo on piazza della Libertà, this 153-room behemoth rocks a Dante and Beatrice theme with simply furnished rooms, an eye-catching lobby complete with a 24/7 bar for game and music nights. A separate entrance whisks digital nomads up to a warren of meeting rooms and a well-equipped membership-based coworking space.
Anglo American Hotel Florence
Having reopened in the spring, this historic five-star hotel now affiliated with the Curio Collection by Hilton brand in via Solferino boasts over 100 rooms and three restaurants. As a nod to its Grand Tour past, when the hotel was frequented by the British and American communities, the interiors rock a contemporary take on a 1920s Art Deco vibe. Afternoon tea is a highlight here in the same place where the Scorpions cultural salon used to meet in the Thirties and gossip on Florentine life with biting criticism.
The Hoxton
Another opening near piazza della Libertà is The Hoxton on via delle Mantellate. A spacious courtyard connects the 161 palatial rooms (bookings now available from December 2 onwards) across two buildings, one dating to the 16th century and the other designed by Andrea Branzi in the 1980s. Plus, there’s the House, an independent apartment vaunting three bedrooms, a lounge and its own private patio. A restaurant inspired by the Italian Riviera and a refined wine bar is set to complete the offering in the spring.
Collegio alla Querce, Auberge Resorts Collection
Opening in March 2025, this sprawling 16th-century luxury hotel complex will be the Californian hospitality group’s first hotel in Italy. The hilltop setting with views across Florence will boast 66 spacious rooms and 17 suites in addition to an exquisite spa nestled in the gardens. The La Gamella restaurant will serve seasonal Italian classics centred around a chef’s table and an original chapel and theatre will up the ante.
The Social Hub Florence Belfiore
A place to learn, stay, work and play, The Social Hub underscores the popularity of the existing Lavagnini location by adding a second, even bigger site in Florence. With eclectic events, coworking spaces, restaurants and bars, the San Jacopino neighbourhood is soon to see this lively location come to life in early 2025.
Hotel Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi
Granted this is not a new opening, but a total makeover of the 16th-century palazzo a short distance from Santa Maria Novella train station. While the frescoed halls and objets d’art remain untouched, the internationally renowned interior designer duo, Patrizia Quartero and Guy Oliver, have worked wonders, calling on local artisans and specialized restorers to add contemporary style to the 86 rooms. Don’t miss the “secret garden” at Terrae restaurant helmed by top chef Iside de Cesare and the Aria rooftop bar for sundowners.
