Florence

Setting off from piazza Santa Maria Novella on February 9 will be Stenterello, the much-loved Florentine carnivalesque figure, with curious crowds drawn to the antics of him and his companions as they parade along with vintage cars and other surprises. The Grand Ball in Palazzo Vecchio’s Salone dei Cinquecento on February 8 will be an uber-elegant affair for those seeking the full experience.

Carnival Calenzano

The medieval-themed carnival centres around piazza del Comune, with ladies and knights reminding us of times gone by as flag-wavers and drums create a courtly scene.
