Continuing the success of Italian tennis internationally, the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup will be displayed at four tennis clubs in Tuscany: La Limonaia in Sesto Fiorentino (February 17-19), Siena (February 19-21), Pistoia (February 21-23) and Giotto Arezzo (February 23-25).
The 2025 Trophy Tour is promoted by the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) and will take the world championship trophies won by the men’s and women’s national teams on a tour across Italy to celebrate the two major tennis successes achieved in 2024. The 2025 Trophy Tour has been created to celebrate Italy’s first-ever double win, as never before had both national teams triumphed in the same year at the world championships: the men’s team, led by Filippo Volandri, won the Davis Cup for the second consecutive year, while the women’s team, led by Tathiana Garbin, returned to victory in the Billie Jean King Cup after an 11-year wait.
The tour will give 50 Italian clubs the opportunity to host the Davis Cup and the BJK Cup. The president of the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation, Angelo Binaghi, wanted to pay tribute to the role of these clubs, which have greatly contributed to the development of tennis over the years. This recognition is not only for competitive results but also for grassroots activities, membership numbers, the quality of tennis schools and, more recently, the promotion of tennis in schools through the Racchette in Classe initiative.
La Limonaia in Sesto Fiorentino is the place closest to Florence to see the two trophies with an open day for the public on February 18 from 9am to 8pm.
