Prato is getting a brand-new boost to one of its most historic industries. On October 15, sisters Tessa and Arianna Moroder will open Lottozero, a new centre for textile design, art and exchange, based in a refurbished warehouse (via Arno, 10).

The fully equipped workspace and studio will be open to Italian and international artists, artisans and designers, and will feature a co-working area and exhibition space. Part of Lottozero’s mission is to help new talents in textile art and design establish themselves through targeted residency programs, networking and exhibition opportunities.

Opening celebrations will include the “Inside Lottozero” exhibition, a study of the use of textiles in contemporary art. Arianna Moroder has created a conceptual, immersive installation with performative, visual and auditory elements for the occasion. Visitors will be invited to spend the night at Lottozero for 12 hours: the role of fabrics and textiles in our nighttime rituals will be explored as participants use Moroder’s blankets and mats at bedtime, while enjoying a “Sleep Concert” and other uninterrupted, relaxing entertainment.
