The romantic plot tells of Princess Odette, victim to a wicked spell by the evil magician Rothbart that condemns her to spend hours of the day in the guise of a white swan, only to be freed by true love. The stage is set for a desperate struggle to break the spell that would allow two young lovers to live happily ever after.

Christmas classic returns to Florence

 

 

December brings a winter wonderland to the La Pergola Theatre. Tchaikovsky’s world-famous ballet The Nutcracker presents a feast for the senses with magic and festive decorations the ideal way to celebrate the winter season. 

 

The story commences on Christmas Eve, with the Stahlbaum family gathered together to decorate their Christmas tree in preparation for a party. Among the guests is a magician who brings gifts for the children, including four lifelike dolls who dance to the delightful music. Another toy, a wooden nutcracker, attracts the attention of the family’s daughter, Clara, who cannot help but check on the beloved toy once everyone has gone to bed. And so the audience and Clara enter into the most spectacular Christmas dream in which she witnesses is the most spectacular Christmas dream, which the audience is brought along to enjoy.
