Creative Mani Factory at Manifattura Tabacchi (via delle Cascine 35) opens from 10am to 8pm on April 5+6 in a two-day celebration of Italian craftsmanship curated by Heyart. Artists, designers and illustrators meet to exhibit their unique creations, with activities for all ages adding to the atmosphere. This edition focuses on sustainability-driven creativity with the programme featuring workshops like picture frame making using fabric scraps, and ‘weave your own coaster’, as well as ‘decorate your own cookie’ and a fashion show. Of note is the ‘blind portrait’ experience where an artist sketches without ever looking at the paper, and Dario Derakhshan showcases 10 iconic figures through a pop and colourful lens.

See moreCristina Acidini and Claudio Paolini curate an intriguing exhibition around the couple – the art historian and writer/translator – and the circle of artists and intellectuals they brought together. Visitors are treated to Caravaggio’s Boy Bitten by a Lizard, the Apostles by Jusepe de Ribera, as well as the 40-plus paintings, drawings, photographs and documents that testify to the couple’s frequentations of esteemed literary figures and artists such as Ungaretti, Pratolini, Gadda, de Pisis, Guttuso and Mafai.
See the exhibitionFunds are raised for the Oliveta Sociale through a guided tour of the frescoes of the Educatorio, with works dating back to 1419-1429 from the school of Bici di Lorenzo, in a rare opportunity to admire masterpieces that are not usually visible to the public. The evening continues with talks by participants in the Fiorentine 4.0 documentary detailing Rinasciamo’s projects. The highlight of the event is an auction that includes pieces of Haute Couture such as the feathers of Duccio Mazzanti, works of art by Giovanni Lami, leather accessories by Sieme and more. The evening ends with a cocktail in the cloister. Funds raised go towards those who attend the Montedomini day centres. Donations of 30 euro requested per person. See moreThe free admission contemporary art exhibition hosted in the B9 building sees works by Giovanna Graniero, Gabriele Hoxha, Milo Maricelli, Demis Rosa, Nina Silvestri and Chiara Siddu; artists undertaking residencies that began last December. The former factory hosts the works alongside pieces by Zeno Festi, Sara Giacomelli, Francesco Maggiora, Bianca Migliorini and Gaia Lupo. Five ateliers form the exhibition itinerary that are usually reserved for individual research. The exhibition explores the role of the artist in contemporary society, considering artistic communities and their work environments as assets of collective interest. A weekly calendar of dialogues with the artists commences on March 19. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 7pm, free admission.
