Vote from Abroad is a non-partisan organization that will have volunteers in two locations in Florence available to assist US voters to register to vote and to update their registration if they are already registered. After ballots have been received, they will assist voters in submitting their completed ballots. The locations will be staffed weekly until the election, from 3.30-5.30pm at the Shake Cafè on via Cavour on Tuesdays, and from 6-8pm on Thursdays at Le Murate Caffè Letterario.

There’s a kind of magic at Hard Rock Cafe Florence with a Queen-themed menu experience. Each course is a celebration of great rock hits, with delicious dishes that pay homage to iconic songs. While you dine, enjoy the much-loved hits played by Killer Queen, the official Italian Queen performers who have been in operation since 1995. 16 famous Tuscan chefs come to the panoramic terrace of Forte Belvedere to serve some of the best pizzas, gelato and pastries to be found, with funds going towards assisting unaccompanied foreign minors.
The vibrant workshops, galleries, studios and stores along via dei Serragli open their doors for an evening spent exploring creativity with hands-on free-entry workshops and live demonstrations, with insights into the creation of jewellery, ceramics, leather handbags and more. Talented local artisans share their tricks, with expert actors also detailing their creative processes. Local wine and cheese are on offer at this event organized in partnership with Creative People in Florence. Pop into the studios along via dei Serragli, between via Sant’Agostino and via del Campuccio from 5-10 pm on Thursday, September 5. No reservations are required.
English speakers have united for an aperitivo organized by Richard Harris for over ten years, while he simultaneously managed the Facebook group Expats living in Tuscany and Maremma with Sheida and Paul O’Halloran. This summer, they host a special occasion in the Maremma to meet and get to know each other better, with special guest Jessica Lionnel of The Local Italy talking around the topic of writing for the international community. From 5-9pm on Sunday, costing 15 euro for adults and 5 euro for kids. Booking is required by calling 320 9616302. Apericena, wine, coffee, tea, soft drinks and snacks included.
Paper art is placed in some of the most charming points in the city, transforming the historical centre of Lucca into a paper art gallery. Exhibitions are hosted in the recently restored Palazzo Guinigi, and an outdoor exhibition that sees seven installations in the centre. Explore the works by the international artists as you stroll around the city.

The external spaces of Forte Belvedere are open to the public for free from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 8pm, until September 30, with guided tours at 5pm and 6.30pm on Friday and Sunday afternoons, bringing you to discover the fortresses’ fascinating past.
