Percorsi a lume di torcia

The series of torch lit workshops and tours in Santa Maria Novella, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Palazzo Vecchio and Museo Novecento keeps culture lovers content over the festive season. Tickets cost 2.50 euro for Florence residents and 5 euro for non-Florence residents, in addition to usual museum ticket fees. Reservations are required for all activities. Befana in piazza della Repubblica

At 11.30am in piazza della Repubblica, the Befana will make her way from the arch of the square to Rinascente in a festive spectacle to delight all ages. Sweets will be distributed to the eagerly assembled, as per tradition.

Marya Kazoun: First Act

Titled First Act, the contemporary art installation by Marya Kazoun inspired by the Nativity scene and the environmental crisis is on display in Palazzo Pitti’s Sala Bianca until January 29. The main features of the installation are the white fabric figures that stand in opposition to a swarm of Murano glass locusts. Standing at 2.6 meters tall, they act as a representation of the Magi (the Three Wise Men), bringing the gift of clean energy as depicted through their turbine-like form.

I Bronzi di Riace

The Accademia Gallery is hosting a new exhibition featuring photos of the Riace Bronzes by Luigi Spina, curated by Carmelo Malacrino. Photographs of the two bronze statues famously found in 1972 will be on display in celebration of the 50th anniversary since their discovery.

Green Line Festival

Florence gets a festive makeover each year, with projections, video mapping and art installations adorning the city’s best-known monuments. One of the most significant artistic light festivals in Europe, the magical displays are promoted by the City of Florence, bringing the centuries-old settings to life with striking exhibits that spread smiles throughout the city. This year, the title is ‘Green Line’, under the artistic direction of Sergio Risaliti.
