Onofrio Pepe – The Myths Rediscovered

The University of Florence celebrates its 100th anniversary with a journey through the symbolic universe of myth in two historic venues. Seven sculptures and 30 polychrome steles in terracotta and wood by Onofrio Pepe make up the “Wall of Myth”.

INSTALLATION

Agora

MAD Murate Art District presents a new permanent installation for the spaces of the former prison in collaboration with BHMF – Black History Month Florence. The site-specific sound installation by the sound artist SADI (Florence, 1978), was created to resound the thoughts, philosophies and struggles of numerous figures who once occupied the space, transforming the sense of a prison, where words are denied, into its opposite, an Agora, the square at the center of the ancient Greek polis.

Monograff

Reburger, in partnership with Street Levels Gallery, launches a series of temporary exhibitions that will last throughout 2024. The inaugural exhibition features works by the internationally-known Florentine urban artist, Monograff.

Fuori di Taste at the 25hours Hotel

The 25hours Hotel hosts The Body that Changes exhibition from 7pm on February 1, reflecting on the colours of wine with body art examples, followed by an aperitivo. From 10pm on February 3, The Night of the Cursed Poets will be held at the Companion Dolceamaro bar at 25hours, with three actors performing a series of readings (in Italian) dedicated to spirits. From 8pm on February 5, there’s the Out of Mind event at the hotel’s San Paolino restaurant, where chef Lorenzo Vendali offers a four-course menu dedicated to the seasons.

Brunch at The Social Hub

The Social Hub (viale Spartaco Lavagnini 70/72) hosts an all-you-can-eat brunch with live music and entertainment from 11.30am to 4pm with the sweet and savoury buffet enhanced by Lorenzo’s 2000s DJ set on February 4, and an ‘80s and ‘90s set by Isabella Centaro from Collettivo Loredana on February 11. A Drag Brunch with The Shade will be on February 18 and pop covers by Sinedades on February 25.

1500th anniversary of Bridgid of Kildare

A three-day intercultural festival between Ireland and Italy celebrates the 1500th anniversary of the death of St.Brigid of Ireland. The project takes an artistic and ecological tone to highlight the relevance of Brigid’s values, such as peacemaking, community building and the need to cultivate a right relationship with the earth.
