A wide-range of events across 8 museums host themed tours, talks and cultural activities in the programme titled Inform, Perform, Transform, Re-visit cultural heritage that seeks to combat racism.
The Marino Marini Museum hosts 50 works that allow viewers to engage with the partnership between two of the most iconic artistic personalities of the 20th century, curated by Luca Scarlini.
To mark St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, Clover Danze Irlandesi brings a tour of traditional Irish dance to celebrate the patron saint of the Emerald Isle, with music by The Hidden Note at Fitzpatrick’s Irish pub (via Ghibellina 152) on March 11 with a traditional Irish menu, a show by the Shamrock Dance Company at the Hard Rock Café on March 17, and other events around Tuscany. IRIS Academy of Irish Dance and Willos’ Irish folk music with Massimo Giuntini perform at Fitzpatrick’s Irish Pub on March 17, with an Irish menu, concert and dancing costing 25 euro (20 euro for IRIS members). Music from Willos’, Her Pillow, the Marco Fabbri Trio and a céilí led by the Clover Irish dance studio celebrate the occasion in style.
16 theaters in and around Florence offer 4 euro admission on March 16, 17 and 18, with food and drinks once again available. From The Batman to Oscar-winning documentaries, take advantage of the reduced price to enjoy popcorn in one of the city’s theatres. American maestro Ryan McAdams conducts the Orchestra della Toscana with pianist Pietro De Maria in a performance of works by Jessie Montgomery, Saint-Saëns and Mendelssohn on the spectacular Teatro Verdi stage.
The film titled Reflection focuses on the war in Donbass, screened to support the Ukrainian people with a premier at the Spazio Alfieri. The 8-year war is documented in the film by Ukrainian Valentyn Vasyanovychk, introduced by theatre director Riccardo Sottili, creator of a documentary on Russia and Italy.
The cinema hall at the 25hours hotel (piazza San Paolino) hosts a new screening series every Sunday at 4.30pm. The first month is free, with the programme dedicated to short films by local directors, preceded by a presentation from the director. This Sunday’s show is by Lorenzo Giacinti on March 13, titled Donne senza Uomini.
