Future is the theme of the 7th edition of the woman-focused fest, as artistic director Serena Dandini elaborates, “Today, more than ever, women are capable of revolutionary ideas and do not ask to participate in the world as it is, but aspire to be an active part in reforming it”. Held in proximity to the World Day against Gender Violence on November 25, special guests this year include romance writer Felicia Kingsley, musician Paola Maugeri and economist Ginevra Bersani Franceschetti.
See the programmeChristmas fever starts to seep into the city, with piazza Santa Croce hosting the much-loved market in the picturesque piazza. Over 50 characteristic wooden huts fill with the scents, sounds and flavours of the festive season, with Santa even making an appearance and live music adding to the atmosphere from November 23-December 22.

Dr. Caroline Campbell, who since 2022 has been Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, will join Paola Vojnovic’s Studiolo series to discuss the art of Trecento Siena. The exhibition draws on her recent book The Power Of Art—A Human History Of Art From Babylon To New York City (2024, Pegasus). In her Studiolo talk, she will look at how the civic life of Siena shaped the remarkable innovations of Duccio, the Lorenzetti brothers, and Simone Martini who, she argues, changed the course of painting in Western Europe. 7pm Italy, 10am Los Angeles, 1pm New York.
The 22nd edition of the popular film fest sees special guests like Nicola Bellucci, director of Quir, Markus Stein with the documentary Baldiga – Unlocked Heart, and transgender athlete Valentina Petrillo. Screenings, talks, masterclasses and more form the lineup organized by the Ireos association, bringing the queer universe and community to the big screen.

Register your teamThe longest-running festival dedicated to female directors in Italy features a broad range of voices and themes, including one of the most important names in New German Cinema and contemporary European cinema, Margarethe von Trotta. For this 45th edition, a new space is being created by Piera Detassis, president of the Accademia del Cinema Italiano – Premi David di Donatello, in collaboration with the journalist and critic Raffaella Giancristofaro, which aims to be a workshop for the rediscovery of the many cultural deposits that have so far been unknown or forgotten.
