Tetraktis Percussioni

Music by the likes of Steve Reich and John Cage is interpreted using all kinds of “instruments”, with six sections distinguished by the type of materials used. The issue of recycling is addressed through sound, with empty bottles, plaster, paper and even organic matter transformed into percussion.

Ellevate Her

Ellevate Her hosts its inaugural silent auction fundraising gala at Hotel Number Nine on October 26. Taking place from 8pm-12am, the gala will showcase works by world-renowned photographer Robert Farber, alongside Melissa Ferrer Burke and artist Myra Fiori, with funds raised going towards supporting programmes for women to heal, grow and thrive.

Seanchas; Lore

Bridget Flannery, Jen Donnery and Jackie Carter are three artists who share a common bond, the female domestic. From the historical accounts of Ireland from Carter and Flannery to the contemporary Ireland of today for women discussed by Donnery, the works go on show in the studio of Enrico Ferrarini and the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, opening a cultural conversation between these two countries.

Vote from Abroad

Vote from Abroad is a non-partisan organization that will have volunteers in two locations in Florence available to assist US voters to register to vote and to update their registration if they are already registered. After ballots have been received, they will assist voters in submitting their completed ballots. The locations will be staffed weekly until the election, from 3.30-5.30pm at the Shake Cafè on via Cavour on Tuesdays, and from 6-8pm on Thursdays at Le Murate Caffè Letterario.

Felice Carena - Vivere nella pittura

Two exhibitions are dedicated to the painter from Turin who lived in Florence in the early-mid 20th century, stemming from an idea by Magda Grifò, the artist’s great-granddaughter and coordinated by Valentina Zucchi, the Palazzo’s scientific director. The works on show detail the career of Felice Carena, delving into the years he lived in Florence, from 1924, when he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts, to 1945, when he moved to Venice.
