Kavinya Ndumbu celebrates soul classics

Daisy’s Dinner Shows are back on Thursdays and Fridays. This week, Kavinya Ndumbu is joined by the 6-piece Daisy’s Soul Band on an epic exploration of soul classics, to be enjoyed while sampling the new seasonal tasting menu, savouring songs like ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough’, ‘Natural Woman’ and ‘One Kiss’.

I still hear the soft roar of a distant crowd

Works by Rubén D’Hers explore the concept of listening as a blurred domain where acoustically generated sounds overlap with our musical and auditory memory. Expressed through pieces that intersect sound installation, music and painting, the exhibition is in collaboration with Villa Romana, where D’Hers is a current fellow.

Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra 

FirenzeOnStage at Teatro Niccolini opens its season with Jeff Goldblum’s storied career that spans 6 decades of award-winning work as a starring actor in film, television and theater. An accomplished jazz pianist, Goldblum launched the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra 30 years ago. Since then, he and his band have performed for delighted audiences throughout the United States and all over the world playing contemporary arrangements of classic jazz and American songbook standards.

September at Manifattura Tabacchi

Manifattura Tabacchi hosts a talk with Daniela Collu on September 19, on the topic of financial wellbeing. On Saturday, there’ll be an unmissable closing party for Fuori Po’Stò with a DJ set by Franz Dettori. There’s even more dancing with Electric Sundays at Bulli & Balene, with food and drinks at the american bar accompanied by a DJ set by Emijay, Fex, Giulio Chiaramonti, and Lodo. Lostudioesse hold a world wellness weekend from September 20-22 with free classes in the hanging garden, with the Festival della Nuova Città by Fondazione Micheleucci taking place on site from September 26-28, and guided tours of the Caveau former factory space continuing on September 7, 21 and 26.

Mani Tese, an organization active in Florence since 1964, promotes initiatives on the themes of reuse, ethical economics, critical consumption, interculturality and international cooperation. Fiorino Mud

Three adventures are available for adrenaline seekers, with gravel, mountain biking (MTB) and electric bikes undertaking the monumental challenge on September 21 of 400km from Hu Norcenni Girasole Village to Figline Valdarno, heading towards the PuntAla Camp and Resort in Maremma and returning to Figline on September 22. 70km and 100km options are simultaneously undertaken, exploring the Valdarno territory. The whole weekend will be one to remember, with food and music as athletes and fans unite.

Vote from Abroad

Vote from Abroad is a non-partisan organization that will have volunteers in two locations in Florence available to assist US voters to register to vote and to update their registration if they are already registered. After ballots have been received, they will assist voters in submitting their completed ballots. The locations will be staffed weekly until the election, from 3.30-5.30pm at the Shake Cafè on via Cavour on Tuesdays, and from 6-8pm on Thursdays at Le Murate Caffè Letterario.

The sounds of plants and souls vibrate in national premieres by young musicians at the Certosa as part of the third edition of the festival organized by La Filharmonie from September 8-29.
