With a chilly winter looming ahead, psychologist Marta Scarabottolo thought a hat could make a big difference.
Working with refugees at a welcome centre in Montelupo Fiorentino, Dr. Scarabottolo launched Tanto di Cappello: Change Starts from the Head.
To get the word out, Scarabottolo partnered with Pressme, a digital communications agency specializing in public service projects, issuing a call to donate warm hats for the many migrants and refugees arriving in Italy with few possessions and no winter clothing.
Scarabottolo sees the utility of the hats but also their symbolic value: ‘It is a way of letting those in need know that we are here for them,’ she said.
Donors are encouraged to write a short message of support and encouragement to include in their packages.
