It’s that time of the year again when the Tuscan American Association Onlus welcomes international and study abroad students of Fall 2016! The event, which is held to enhance the cultural exchange between Tuscany and the United States, will take place on October 10 in the Salone dei 500 of Palazzo Vecchio, beginning at 5pm.
This year’s list of speakers includes the vice-mayor of Florence Cristina Giachi and the Vice Consul of the US Consulate General in Florence R. Scott Macintosh. TAA’s co-presidents Andrea Davis and Federico Frediani will also address the students during the evening.
As part of the ceremony, the annual TAA awards will be presented to two deserving recipients, one Tuscan and the other American. This year’s award will be presented to Sandro Mencucci, Executive Director of ACF Fiorentina Spa. The award is given for his work in promoting women’s soccer as well as for seeking collaboration with the world of American soccer, particularly youth training. The second award, accepted by Vice Consul Macintosh, will be presented to the American people for their help and support given during the time of the flood of November 4, 1966.
The event will also see a dance performance by the Florence Dance Company of Keith Ferrone and Marga Nativo.
