Dubai’s dining scene recently gained a touch of Tuscany with the opening of Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, which joins the two already operating in Florence and at the Relais & Chateaux Il Borro on the Ferragamo-owned Valdarno estate. The prestigious location for the first bistro launched abroad is the Al Naseem Madinat Jumeirah hotel, overlooking the Persian Gulf.
Andrea Campani, executive chef of Il Borro Tuscan Bistros in Italy and the renowned Osteria del Borro, created the menus with a discerning Middle Eastern audience in mind. Pappa al pomodoro and a range of regional classics are the bedrocks of the new bistro, and make use of produce from Tuscany.
Diners won’t feel too far off from Florence: interior design was overseen by Studio 63, the same group that managed the concept for the lungarno Acciaioli restaurant. Identical lights, colours, textiles and wood panelling were used to recreate the same hospitable atmosphere.
The new location includes a bar area with a wide selection of cocktails and labels, a large terrace that can seat up to 40, a main dining area and private room with customizable menus and music. Resident executive chef is Maurizio Bosetti, previously executive chef at Atelier M, Dubai Marina.
Ahead of the January 12 opening, Ferruccio Ferragamo commented, “It is an honour to introduce the UAE to a taste of true Tuscan authenticity.”
