Native Florentine fashion house, Gucci, will run Florence’s
prestigious leather-making and leather-working institute, the Alta Scuola di
Pelletteria Italiana. Gucci’s director of logistics and production, Karlheinz
Hofer, will head the school.

‘The Gucci presidency confirms that the Alta Scuola is
an institution of innovative and serious applied training. This nomination will
further valorize the institution and re-launch its activities in the sector’,
said provincial labour superintendent Elisa Simoni.

The Alta Scuola di Pelleteria Italiana was established
in 2005, a project of the Associazione San Colombano with the collaboration of
the municipalities of Scandicci, Pontassieve, Bagno a Ripoli, Pelago and
Vicchio, and the expertise of the Centopercento Italiano, Cna, Confartigianato,
Confindustria, Polimoda, Gucci and Prada. It is considered a centre of
excellence in the national leather industry.
