Parents looking for an opportunity to expose their kids to creative events in English need look no further than the innovative Bottega dei Ragazzi (Children's Workshop), part of Florence's Museo degli Innocenti. Starting January 31, the Bottega will hold English-language workshops and events during the last weekend of every month.

The Bottega offers high-quality programs that combine the Renaissance principle of learning through doing with more modern aspects of childcare, such as creative workshops, art history lessons, plays and shows-all supervised by professional teachers and caregivers.

English-language fun begins on January 31, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm with Look at That Face! This workshop, to discover portraiture through the works housed in the Museo degli Innocenti, perfect for children between three and six years old, allows kids to discover a variety of artworks depicting children and create their own self-portraits. Parents are welcome to join in, take advantage of the time to visit the museum, or indulge in a stroll through the historic center.

On February 1, from 11:00am to 12:30pm, the Bottega offers a guided visit of the artworks displayed in the Ospedale degli Innocenti, illuminating the history of the site and the children it has housed through the centuries. The visit is open to children between the ages of six and eleven. Kids may be accompanied by an adult or the whole family.

In addition to a home for English-language workshops, the Bottega hopes to become a meeting place for children from different Anglo communities as well as Florentine kids learning English. The Bottega seeks to collaborate with local cultural groups such as theatres, libraries, and language schools and is open to proposals for activities!

Note that this includes entrance for one child and one parent/adult.

Each additional guest is required to pay for a separate ticket.

Because space is limited, reservations are necessary.

The Bottega also organizes birthday parties in English. Each party, which is two hours long, includes a 90-minute workshop, followed by 30 minutes for cake and presents. Saturday parties cost 150 euro for up to 15 kids (10 euro for each additional child). Weekday parties are 120 euro (8 euro for each additional child).
