According to a recent study by agricultural consumer group Coldiretti, 1 out of 3 imported wines sold in the U.S. are of Italian origin. In fact, a 15.2 percent increase in exports to the U.S. in July now puts Italian wine ahead of French wine. Although sales have increased, there is still the problem of false Italian wines taking over the market. One out of two bottles of Italian wine sold are actually not Italian at all, but some sort of imitation.
