Florence is the cocaine capital of Italy, according to research carried out by the Italian anti-drug policy agency and the Mario Negri Institute for pharmacological research. Based on wastewater analysis, the research indicates that Florence has the highest consumption of cocaine in Italy, followed by Naples and Milan, respectively. The research was made public by the head of the Italian anti-drug policy agency, Giovanni Serpelloni, in advance of the 2013 report to the parliament, which will be published in coming weeks.
