Two sculptures by Antony Gormley have taken up temporary residence in the Uffizi ahead of the forthcoming Being Human exhibition.

The British artist’s Another Time and Settlement stand in juxtaposition with more classical statuary on the second floor of Florence’s foremost museum. Another Time has been positioned along the corridor opposite the large window overlooking the Ponte Vecchio, while Settlement can be found in Room 43, in dialogue with the famous Sleeping Hermaphroditus, an early Imperial Roman copy of a second century BCE bronze original, which has been moved for the occasion from its usual location by Room 38. A second version of Another Time will be installed in the next few days on the terrace above the Loggia dei Lanzi.

Being Human is set to open on February 26 and continue until May 26. The exhibition will feature a variety of the artist’s output exploring the theme of the body in space and body as space.
