Bartolomeo Ammannati’s Fountain of Neptune in Florence’s piazza della Signoria has been restored.
Following two years of intense work, the statue by the Palazzo Vecchio has been returned to its former glory, including an overhaul of the water pump system.
The project cost 1.5 million euro, funded by the Florentine fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo SpA thanks to the Italian Art Bonus legislation that promotes cultural patronage through tax breaks.
On March 25, the restoration was celebrated with a performance in the piazza featuring music by Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
