Pistoletto, Rauschenberg, Baj, Ceroli, Spoerri, Beuys, Alinari, Arman, Christo: kids in Florence have the chance to ‘play’ with the works of these contemporary artists at the Reali Poste’s current exhibition, Laboratorio Novecento, a new project to engage children with contemporary art.
Housed in the Sala delle Reali Poste of the Uffizi Gallery until November 14, the exhibition features a ‘double’ itinerary for viewing 30 contemporary artworks: one for adults and one designed specifically for children.
‘This is the first time that youth have encountered the 1900s at the Uffizi,’ says director of the Uffizi Gallery, Antonio Natali. ‘[T]hrough the children’s workshops we hope to also involve their parents. This is a promising project that I hope becomes a regular event in the future,’ he concluded.
The children’s workshops run from Monday to Friday for school groups (by reservation only); families may bring their children on Sunday mornings. Special workshops for families with children 6 years and older are also offered.
