Through
the newly formed museum system of Chianti and Valdarno Fiorentino, which
comprises the cultural and artistic heritage of 10 municipalities, art lovers
in the Chianti and Valdarno Fiorentino can now visit 12 area museums with one
ticket.

‘This
is a particularly significant step, demonstrating what can be done by
municipalities for cultural sector, even in times of funding cuts and a drastic
reduction in resources,’ said Massimiliano Pescini, mayor of San Casciano and
leader of the project, which brings together the major medieval and Renaissance
treasures of the Chianti and Valdarno area.

The five euro card provides
access to the following museums: Antiquarium di Sant’Appiano (Barberino Val
d’Elsa); the Pieve di San Leonino (Rignano sull’Arno); the Museo d’Arte Sacra
di San Francesco (Greve in Chianti); the Museo Masaccio-Pieve di Cascia (Reggello);
the Museo di San Casciano; the Museo d’Arte Sacra del Tesoro di Santa Maria
(Impruneta); the Museo d’Arte Sacra (Tavarnelle Val di Pesa); Museo d’Arte
Sacra (Incisa in Val d’Arno); the Oratory of Santa Caterina delle Ruote (Bagno
a Ripoli); the Museo d’Arte Sacra dell’Abbazia di Vallombrosa (Reggello); the
Museo Emilio Ferrari della cultura contadina (San Donato in Poggio); and the
Museo d’Arte Sacra della Collegiata di Santa Maria (Figline Valdarno).
