The art, genius, passion and creativity of Florentine artisans are depicted in a new video directed by award-winning Cinzia TH Torrini.

Florence-born director Torrini provides an insider’s view of some of the city’s traditional crafts. Her video features a group of artisans and provides fascinating insights into the trades, which are part of Florence’s history and identity. Torrini’s footage, taken in artisan workshops, gives a detailed account of both the tools used and the results of the work.

The video will be available for distribution and screening upon request, and is suitable for such venues as airports, train and bus stations, conferences and trade fairs, arts festivals and hotels.

The project, organised by Fondazione di Firenze per l’Artigianato Artistico and fully funded by the Chamber of Commerce of Florence, is envisioned to expand into a series of six episodes for television, making the expertise and qualities of these artists accessible to a wider audience and, organizers hope, inspiring young people to pursue the artisan tradition.
