Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi has said goodbye to its long-serving president, Lorenzo Bini Smaghi.
Smaghi who, over the 10 years of his tenure, led the foundation to take an international approach in organizing artistic events, creating a platform for cultural experimentation and establishing a space for dialogue and discussion, and building a strong visitor base.
In the press release, managing director of Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, Arturo Galansino, commented, “I thank Lorenzo Bini Smaghi for his decade’s work in supporting the foundation. In these years, Palazzo Strozzi has shown how culture, even in Italy, can be economically sustainable.”
Smaghi’s successor is Matteo Del Fante, who was most recently managing director of Terna, an energy company.
