As from May 1, outdoor exercise—walking and cycling—will be permitted again in Tuscany within the municipality where you live.

The dispensation applies to persons exercising individually, parents with their children, carers accompanying persons who are not self-sufficient and persons who reside under the same roof. All forms of exercise must begin from and end at one’s home. In no instance is the use of public or private transportation allowed in order to exercise outdoors. Social distancing will not be required between parents and their children, persons who live under the same roof, and persons who are not self-sufficient and their carers; social distancing of 1.8 metres will be necessary among everyone else.

“This is a measure that I had announced and it has an important purpose: to help all of us prepare, gradually and cautiously, for a new normal,” commented Enrico Rossi, president of the Tuscany Region. “We will have to live with this virus over an extended period of time. We must do so in the utmost safety, with dignity and humanity. And, above all, with responsibility: we will need more responsibility in the immediate future, not less, and it will therefore be fundamental to observe the general rules on self-certification, social distancing and use of face protection.”

The new regional ordinance for Tuscany was signed today, April 29, by the president of the Tuscany Region, Enrico Rossi, in agreement with Anci Toscana, the association for municipalities, and Upi Toscana, the provincial union.

Please note that all parks, gardens and allotment remain closed in Florence until May 4 or unless otherwise advised by the city council.
