Toscana Pride coloured the streets of Florence yesterday. About 50,000 people—young and old, locals and internationals—marched at a critical time for Italy’s gay community as the central government continues to erode LGBTQIA+ rights.
“At a time when our community is under attack, we hold our heads high and give a positive outlet to our anger,” commented the Toscana Pride organizing committee. “We expected a massive turnout for Pride’s return to Florence after seven years, but the involvement far exceeded our expectations.”
