The Italian city of Verona, setting of the world’s most famous love story, Romeo and Juliet, will soon allow couples to tie the knot on ‘Juliet’s balcony’ where, legend has it, the star-crossed lovers declared their love. ‘It’s a way of using the city’s artistic heritage to boost tourism’, said Verona’s Tourism councillor, Daniele Polato. The special ‘Marry Me in Verona’ marriage license is 600 euro for Verona residents, 700 for residents of the city’s catchment area, 800 for citizen of the European Union (EU), and 1,000 euro for non-EU couples. An Italian civil marriage certificate costs 50 euro.
