Just two Italian wines, both from the Tuscan region, made it on to Wine Spectator’s Top Ten list for 2005. Oreno 2003, Setteponti ( fifth place) and Brunello di Montalcino Poggio all’Oro Riserva 1999, Castello Banfi (eighth place) were the two chosen wines. The Wine Spectator list is considered one of the most important lists on which a wine can be included, and Tuscan winemakers were pleased with such recognition.
